This day, Bruce had the final figures on the Big Creek timber sale.", "start": 427.68, "stop": 434.18, "id": 46}, {"text": " Like all large timber sales on the national forests, a combination of planning", "start": 435.98, "stop": 440.8, "id": 47}, {"text": " and field activity was necessary before a single tree was cut.", "start": 440.8, "stop": 445.8, "id": 48}, {"text": " First, we had to make a careful examination of the timber sale area. A big part", "start": 715.56, "stop": 722.54, "id": 92}, {"text": " of national forest use, particularly in the west, is the grazing of sheep and", "start": 722.54, "stop": 727.82, "id": 93}, {"text": " cattle. Working together we can keep the land in good condition, not over", "start": 774.24, "stop": 780.04, "id": 102}, {"text": " grazed, and at the same time not under grazed, so that both the land and the", "start": 780.04, "stop": 786.68, "id": 103}, {"text": " stockmen get a fair deal.", "start": 786.68, "stop": 788.62, "id": 104}, {"text": " I've got", "start": 792.56, "stop": 799.38, "id": 105}, {"text": " other jobs, all of them important, all requiring some degree of planning.", "start": 799.38, "stop": 804.32, "id": 106}, {"text": " The idea, of course, is to make the forest as useful as possible to the public,", "start": 805.34, "stop": 809.56, "id": 107}, {"text": " and at the same time easier to protect and manage.", "start": 810.1, "stop": 813.52, "id": 108}, {"text": " Take our forest roads, for example. We have special radio channels and miles of telephone lines. Hunting and fishing, of course, are only", "start": 941.76, "stop": 948.32, "id": 128}, {"text": " one part of the whole picture of forest recreation. Take those little rascals, the bark beetles.", "start": 1014.66, "stop": 1020.38, "id": 140}, {"text": " They can work their way into the tree through the thickest bark where they lay", "start": 1022.02, "stop": 1026.04, "id": 141}, {"text": " hundreds of eggs.
